Electrophysiological Studies

An electrophysiological study is a detailed examination of the electrical conducting system of the heart. This enables the cardiologists to identify the type of heart rhythm disorder and more clearly advise on the management of the condition. This is a minor invasive procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia and involves the passage of small electrode catheters to the heart under x-ray guidance which are introduced from veins in the leg (similar to a coronary angiogram).
