Dr Ian R Hall

General and Interventional Cardiology

Dr Hall has been consultant cardiologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since September, 2005. Prior to this he was interventional fellow at Heart & Lung Centre, Wolverhampton and trained at various centres in the West Midlands and Wales. He has also worked previously in Canada and was transradial training fellow at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam, The Netherlands under Dr Ferdinand Kiemeneij, who performed the world`s first transradial coronary angioplasty.

He undertook a higher diploma in biology, biochemistry and pharmacology at De Montfort University and then an honours degree in pharmacology at Leeds University prior to qualifying in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1993. He subsequently gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1996. He was research fellow at the Wales Heart Research Institute, Cardiff and was awarded an MD higher degree from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2004 for research into the function of blood vessels and their response to various cardiovascular risk factors such as high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes and smoking.

He is a member of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and has a specialist interest in trans-radial coronary intervention and also practices in all aspects of general cardiology.
